As news channels debated the election results in Maharashtra and Haryana, Malayalam channel Asianet News did not have any BJP spokespersons from the state. This after the state unit of the BJP decided to boycott the channel for reporting only ‘negative’ stories about the party and its leaders.
In a meeting held in Kottayam, K Surendran, the BJP’s General Secretary raised the issue and claimed that the channel was only playing stories that were negative in nature. He also claimed that the channel was employing people with a CPI M background and their attitude was inherently biased against the BJP.
The meeting also saw some heated moments between BJP Kerala State president V Muraleedharan who was criticized by BJP senior state leaders. Senior leader O Rajagopal lashed out at party State president for taking unilateral decisions and for irregularities in the membership of the standing council.
Rajagopal was also peeved at reports that Muraleeedharan was against making Rajagopal a governor.
