Actor Kamal Haasan is once again playing the fly on the wall, and a vocal one at that. Even as the warring EPS and OPS factions of the AIADMK merged, Kamal took to Twitter to make light of the drama in the ruling party.

“Gandhi cap! Saffron cap! Kashmir cap! Now, the joker's cap sits on the Tamilian's head. Is this enough or you want more? Please stand up, Tamilians,” the actor tweeted in Tamil on Monday afternoon.

Ever since the pro-Jallikattu protests kicked off in Tamil Nadu at the start of the year, Kamal has been a vocal presence on Twitter, and much of his sarcastic commentary has been directed against the ruling AIADMK.

On July 19, Kamal had tweeted a public appeal asking people to flood the government’s various Ministers with instances of corruption in various departments of the government. Just three days later, the contact details of all Ministers disappeared from the primary government website.

Leaders of the AIADMK have also launched direct attacks on Kamal. On July 16, Law Minister CV Shanmugam accused Kamal of “going against Tamil and Indian culture” by having a live-in relationship. Shanmugam also called Kamal “a third-rate actor”, who did not have a right to talk about the government.

A day before that, Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani threatened to probe the actor’s tax history to find evidence of wrongdoing. "I will conduct an audit to check if the actor had properly paid taxes for his films," the Municipal Administration minister, told The Hindu. “Is there any evidence (for Kamal) to prove that corruption prevails in various government departments? If so, let him prove it.”
