The Supreme Court has rejected the petition by Kerala government seeking to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Nehru Group of Institutions chairman P. Krishnadas, in the case related to the suicide of engineering student Jishnu Pranoy.

The apex court said that there are no evidences indicating Krishnadas’s direct involvement in Jishnu’s death.

The state government had moved the HC after Jishnu’s parents met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

SC also rejected Jishnu’s mother Mahija’s petition seeking P Krishnadas’s arrest.

The court also added that more evidences are needed and said Krishnadas will have to go to jail, if it is proved he is involved in the case.

High Court granted Krishnadas bail citing that that there was no evidence against him.

Though the attorney General Mukul Rohatgi argued in SC that Jishnu committed suicide following brutal mental and physical torture by the management including Krishnadas, SC asked where was the evidence to prove that.

Last week, Mahija had given a complaint to Kerala Chief Justice Navniti Prasad Singh alleging that the High Court judge who granted bail to P Krishnadas, had a nexus with Nehru Group.

The High Court judge Abraham Mathew had criticised police for arresting Krishnadas in another case, based on a complaint by a student Shaheer Shoukathali, who alleged that Krishnadas had tortured him.
