Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2, which was in cold storage for some time, is now reportedly moving at a fast pace in the post-production phase.
Kamal had reportedly finished a major portion of the sequel when the first film was being shot, and wrapped up the rest of the shooting before the project went on the back burner.
According to the latest update, Kamal has now wrapped recording for the last song in the film. While the lyrics for the Hindi version of this song have been penned by Prasoon Joshi, the lyrics for the Tamil version were written by Kamal himself. Kamal also revealed that the Telugu version is yet to be recorded and would be done soon. With this news, the stage is set for the release of the film later this year.
Vishwaroopam, a spy thriller released in 2013, hit roadblocks when it released, with some Muslim groups protesting against the film for being anti-Islam. The film was banned by the Tamil Nadu government for some days, before the order was revoked.
Vishwaroopam, written by Kamal Haasan and Atul Tiwari, was also directed by Kamal. The star cast included Kamal Haasan, Rahul Bose, Shekar Kapur, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Vishwaroopam 2, which is likely to hit the silver screens on October 18, has also been directed by Kamal Haasan. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapur and Waheeda Rehman.
Ghibran, who composed music for Vishwaroopam, has scored the music for the sequel as well. The film is a trilingual made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
