Mammootty fans need to wait for some more months to see the star in action on the silver screens. Yes, reports say that the release date of his upcoming film Street Lights has been pushed to next year.
While it was speculated that Street Lights will be out at the theatres in December, sources now say that it will be released on January 26th to cash in on the long Republic Day weekend.
Further, the team is planning to have a worldwide release and this now seems to be a suitable date with reports that the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 has opted out of the Republic Day weekend race due to delay in post-production work.
Street Lights is a bilingual made in Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously. Sources say that the filmmakers are planning to have it dubbed in Telugu as well considering the popularity of its lead star in that region. Street Lights will mark the directorial debut of ace cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen, who had worked wonders with his camera in films such as Oozham, Venicile Vyaapari and Avakai Biryani.
Both the Tamil and Malayalam versions of Street Lights have been shot separately with the star cast being entirely different as well. While for the Tamil version the supporting cast includes Manobala, Pandiraj, Rajendran, Stunt Silva and Sree Raam, for the Malayalam version it is Dharmajan Bolgatty, Joy Mathew, Neena Kurup, Sudhi Koppa, Hareesh Perumanna.
The film is being bankrolled by Mammootty under his banner Play House Motion Picture. The film is touted to be a crime thriller in which Mammootty will be seen playing a police inspector.
