Buoyed by the success of the Long March in Maharashtra, the All India Kisan Sabha is planning yet another protest—’Jail Bharo’ programme against the BJP government on August 9.

Subsequently, they are also planning to take out a Kisan rally from the state to Delhi in September.

The AIKS requested the Andhra farmers to lend support to the national protest against the BJP.

The New Indian Express quoted AIKS national president Ashok Dhawale as saying, “Farmers are forced to take to the streets for their very survival, as Modi Sarkar is corporatising the farm sector disregarding the interests of crores of farmers across the country.”

Revealing further details about the proposed ‘Jail Bharo’ protest, Dhawale briefed that they have been conducting a 10-crore signature campaign against the Modi-led BJP government, which they will submit to the respective district administrators along with their memorandum on August 9.

The AIKS national president made these statements when he had attended the state-level workshop held by Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham.

The AIKS president blamed the BJP government for the agrarian crisis in the country. While he also blamed the Congress for its earlier anti-farmer policies, he called the BJP government under the helm of Narendra Modi, the ‘most anti-farmer’ in Indian history.

He remarked that both the Congress and BJP had been promising payment of 50% over the cost of production as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various crops, but it never translated into reality because they were not sincere in giving what was due to the farmers.

Accusing the BJP of doling out crores of rupees to capitalists in the form of loans, Dhawale said that the government made little efforts to bring back Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi who fled the country after duping banks.
