The YSRCP on Sunday released a statement asking former AP CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu to ‘own moral responsibility’ and vacate his present residence.

Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said to the media, “As the land on which the house was built by Lingamaneni Ramesh has clearly flouted rules of various departments, the TDP President should immediately vacate the house and stop his doublespeak on the status of the house.”

Naidu’s residence at Amaravati had received a demolition notice from the YSRCP-led state government on the night of June 27. The notice by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA) had asked the occupants to vacate the premises within seven days. The notice was issued as portions of the luxury villa on the banks of Krishna river were constructed allegedly in violation of various environmental laws. All surrounding structures had also received notices from the AP CRDA. The notice was preceded by the demolition of the Praja Vedika, the people's grievances cell located a few meters away from Naidu's rented residence.

Since then, Naidu has said that the state government had been attacking him personally, with its entire focus on his house and on scaling down his security instead of solving people's problems. Naidu’s residence in Undavalli was constructed by the Lingamaneni group, a construction firm with close ties to Naidu. Calling Naidu’s objections ‘irrational arguments’, the statement said that if Naidu failed to vacate the house, they would “complain to the competent authority to take firm action against the relator and developer who has misused power and flouted various rules.” 

The statement also claimed that Naidu had said in the Assembly on March 6, 2016, that the house belongs to the government, and that he was bound to vacate the house on those grounds. Claiming that the TDP had been using media outlets that favour them to “distort facts and deviate the issue by floating false notions”, the statement says that the issue will soon be handled by the CRDA authorities. 

“I will ask the authorities to verify the facts fully on the ownership and transfer of the property which is part of the land pooling and take action accordingly,” Ramakrishna Reddy reportedly said.
