Carbonation wins 8th edition of 'TiE Young Entrepreneurs' Innovation Challenge in Hyd

This season, 31 students from 12 top schools across the city formed six teams and pitched their innovative solutions at a competition held on Sunday.

TiE Hyderabad on Monday declared Hyderabad Student Team Carbonation for their business idea Charcoholism (an innovative solution that tackles the ill-effects of alcohol consumption), as the winner of TiE Young Entrepreneurs TYE 2018-19. Team Pentadactyl stood runner-up for their B-plan WarnCup (An intelligent sensor & warning system for detecting temperature of food/beverages before it is consumed).  

This season, 31 students from 12 top schools across the city formed six teams and pitched their innovative solutions at a competition held on Sunday.

In October 2018, TiE Hyderabad had launched their 8th edition of TYE. A total of 79 students from 20 schools applied. A selected batch of 31 students underwent a rigorous curriculum on entrepreneurship and other business topics in 12 sessions, including three team mentoring sessions and an innovation challenge on the grand finale that concluded on January 20, 2019.

Xavier Augustin, CEO of Y-Axis after giving away the award, said in his address, TiE Hyderabad initiative is a great encouragement for the next generation to hone life skills necessary to face future challenges and create simpler solutions rather than worrying about problems. He lauded TiE Hyderabad for their 8th successive competition and for giving a platform to young students to showcase their business ideas.

During the TYE course, the participants interacted with many seasoned entrepreneurs, from TiE Organisation. The structured program offered by TiE Hyderabad included a day-long session on Design Thinking by experts and a team bonding/ group working session by HR professionals.

Suresh Reddy, President - TiE Hyderabad & CEO of Brightcom, said, “Entrepreneurship is about taking risks and the grit to make it successful. We are delighted to see students in the early stage of their life adopting it fearlessly. Everyone who made it to the final pitches is already a winner.”

The jury for the TYE Entrepreneurship Award was Hema Balakrishnan - Founder Color D Earth, Alekh Barli, CEO - Intellibot.io, Dr. P Rantakar -Vice President & Practice Head, Life Sciences - Tech Mahindra.

Winners- Team Carbonation - Sohini(Chirec International), Vedant Hachan (Chirec Public School), Sathvik Sai Kaza(Oakridge International School), Kushal (Delhi Public School), Anusai Dasari (Oakridge International School) who are mentored by Murali Kakarla (CEO, Innobox System Pvt Ltd), were declared the Winners of TYE Innovation Challenge 2018-19.

Runner up - Team Pentadactyl - G Vineeth (DRS International School), Donna Thakker(Chirec International School), Shashank (Bharathi Vidya Bhavan), Ridah Shaistah(Oakridge International School) and Ananya Shah (Aga Khan Academy) mentored by Pranav Shah (CEO, Enter Pi), were declared the Runners-up of TYE innovation challenge 2018-19.

Students from top schools such as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Jubilee Hills, Aga Khan Academy, Chirec International, Delhi Public School, Glendale Academy International, Jubilee Hills Public School, Oakridge International School, Sadhu Vaswani International Schools and various others participated in this program. 

Leaders and Mentors at TYE

A number of industry luminaries were involved in a series of sessions conducted during the TYE program that the students attended, which included Murali Bukkapatnam (Founder & Chairman, Volksy Technologies), Anil Kumar (Founder & Chairman of Greatsports Infra), Subbaraju Pericherla (Founder & CEO Crossborders), Ekta Bahl (Partner, Samvād Partners), Sanjay Jesrani (Founder & CEO, Go North Ventures), Team from Hum consulting, Sricharan Lakkaraju (Founder, Stumagz).  

The mentors Dr. Balaji Bhyravbhatla (Managing Director, HyLasCo Bio-Technology (India) Pvt. Ltd.), Bhanu Prakash Varla (Partner & Director,Graylogic Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), Rakesh Bhatia (Founder & CEO, TheCapitalNet), Pranav Shah(CEO, Enter Pi), Dr. N Ramakrishna (Chairman & MD, Smiline Dental Hospitals),  Murali Kakarla (CEO, Innobox Systems Pvt.Ltd) and Srikant Tirumala (Founder & CEO, Hooperlabs Inc) helped students by vetting their business plans to allow the participants identify problems and find solutions accordingly.

In 2018, TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Hyderabad Chapter successfully conducted of 60+ events and activities under 20+ themes to encourage, nurture next-generation entrepreneurs. TiE organisation comprises successful entrepreneurs and accomplished professionals, volunteering to support startups, with an objective of fostering entrepreneurship across industries, at every stage of the entrepreneurial life cycle.
