Online food ordering and delivery startup Zomato is upping the pressure it has built on rival Swiggy by expanding its operations geographically. Just this week, 30 more cities will come under the Zomato fold and the company claims its services can be availed in as many as 100 cities in a few days from now. The exact count with the addition of the 30 new cities will be 93 and 75,000 hotels/restaurants will figure in its list from where you can order your favourite dishes and have them delivered at your doorstep.

This expansion in operations gives the opportunity to an additional 5,000 last mile delivery boys or delivery partners as Zomato calls them. Countrywide, Zomato will have 150,000 feet on the streets picking up food ordered from the partner restaurants and delivering to its customers. For the record, some of the prominent cities to figure in this new list of 30 include Puducherry, Jamshedpur, Ambala, Meerut, Haridwar, Bhavnagar, Ujjain and Puri.

Commenting on the new developments, Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato said, “We have experienced an overwhelming reaction to our expansion across all of our businesses - Gold, Food Delivery and Supply. The number of Gold memberships sold in Manila and Jakarta within a week is beating early numbers of Delhi and Mumbai. HyperPure has had great reception, and we are opening up our next centre in the NCR in a couple of weeks. The Food@Work business has also been expanding into new markets. And of course, the Food Delivery business is ramping up really well with the growth in main markets, as well as the reception in Tier II, Tier III cities.”

Zomato says it will keep up the expansion spree since the Tier II and III cities have offered encouraging response. The expansion in the operations may include adding a breakfast service as well as deliveries up to midnight, stretching the current working hours of 11am to 11pm. The food delivery service will be available all 7 days of the week.
