Ajith starrer Viswasam was out as a Pongal release in January clashing with another biggie, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta, and was declared a blockbuster hit. Directed by Siva, the film has Ajith and Nayanthara in the lead roles. It may be noted here that Ajith and Siva teamed up for the fourth time with this flick.

The film did not have a simultaneous release in Kannada and Telugu citing lack of availability of theatres. Later it was dubbed in Kannada as Jaga Malla and released by Horizon Studio last month. Viswasam is Ajith’s fourth movie to be dubbed in Kannada. But the film did not perform as expected at the box office.

Now the makers have decided to remake the film in Kannada. Sources told in.com, “Sathya Jyothi Films are very keen to remake the film in Kannada as the dubbed version didn’t do as well as expected. They are in talks with a few leading superstars to reprise Ajith’s role. The talks might get finalised within the next few days and we can expect an official announcement by then.”

It may be noted here that Ajith’s previous release Vivegam was released in Kannada under the title Commando last year. Though the Tamil version bombed at the box office, the Kannada dubbed version was successful with a small margin business. Ajith became the first actor in the last 50 years to have a continuous release of his film in Karnataka in the dubbed version. Ajith’s other films to score a dubbed Kannada release were Arrambam (Dheera in Kannada) and Yennai Arindhaal (Sathyadev in Kannada).

Currently, Ajith awaits the release of Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster hit Pink. Ajith will be seen in the role of a lawyer, which was originally played by Amitabh Bachchan. Vidya Balan will portray the role of Ajith’s wife, marking her debut in the Tamil film industry with this film. Shraddha Srinath reprises Taapsee’s role from the original. The project, which marks the foray of producer Boney Kapoor into Tamil filmdom, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Nirav Shah.
