Alia Bhatt to play Sita in Rajamouli's 'RRR'

The film is set in the 1920s and will be a pan-India story.

Ali Bhatt is all set to make her southern debut with Rajamouli’s RRR. According to a TOI report, Alia's character is named Sita and will be playing a pivotal role in the movie. She will be paired opposite Ram Charan Teja in this magnum opus where the actor plays the role of the legendary freedom fighter Alluri Seetharamaraju. Alia will be joining the sets of this film later this month, we hear. Besides, Alia Bhatt, director SS Rajamouli has roped in Ajay Devgn to play an extended cameo in RRR. The star plays a freedom fighter and will appear in the flash back sequences.

Jr NTR, who is also the male lead in RRR, will play the character of Komaran Bheem in it. Pairing up with him in the film will be British actress Daisy Edgar-Jones.

On the technical crew roped in for the project, we hear that MM Keeravani is on board to compose the tunes. Details about the rest of the star cast and crew are under wraps as of now. Kollywood director and actor Samuthirakani is already on board RRR with a crucial role. 

RRR is being bankrolled by DVV Dhanayya under his banner DVV Entertainments on a budget of Rs 400 crores. Plans are on to release it in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. The film’s director had made an announcement already that RRR will be a Sankaranthi 2020 release.

On RRR, the film’s producer DVV Dhanayya had said during its launch, “There are already great expectations from the film with the Nandamuri fans, and all moviegoers expecting something out of the ordinary. I promise I will make sure no stone is left unturned from my side in that regard.”

At the recently held 16th edition of the Harvard India Conference Rajamouli was asked about RRR to which he replied, “It will be a pan-India film because the nature of the story is like that,” he added. “Please don’t ask me any more questions about the movie.”

RRR will be director SS Rajamouli’s first film after the massive success of the  Baahubali series.
