A day before her movie was to release, director Anjali Menon revealed that Koode is an adaptation of a regional film.

“I found myself re-imagining the story in a different way and when I discussed it with its makers they graciously offered the adaptation rights to me. But he had some advice – to keep one peculiar element under the wraps as they had done,” wrote Anjajli on her blog

She has been keeping the origin of the story under wraps until then but as is her usual practice, Anjali wrote a little note on the eve of her release.

“Koode is an adaptation of the original story by Sachin Kundalkar. I am honoured that he trusted me with the story and it has been a rich learning experience for me. For those who have seen the original please be prepared to see a different interpretation. I humbly request our audience and media to not share that element in their reviews so that everyone may experience the movie first hand.”

Anjali has carefully avoided naming the other film, for if one knew that one ‘peculiar element’ before watching it, half the fun would be lost. That element is a beautiful surprise that is revealed witin the first few minutes of the movie, but it’s well worth not knowing it before.

Prithviraj and Nazriya play siblings in Koode. And Parvathy plays Prithvi’s love interest. The film also has Maala Parvathi, Ranjith, Roshan Mathew, Siddharth Menon, Nandhu Pothuval and Atul Kulkarni in the cast.

Written and directed by Anjali Menon, Koode is bankrolled by Renjith under the banner Rejaputhra Visual Media and Anjali's Little Films India. The music has been composed by Raghu Dixit and M Jayachandran. Other technical crew of the film includes Littil Swayamp for cinematography, Praveen Prabhakar for editing, Arvind Ashok Kumar for production designing, Pampa Biswas for costume designing and Mitta Antony for makeup.
