Kaappaan is easily one of the most expected films of the year as it has the Tamil star Suriya and the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in the star cast. Interestingly, this is the first time that they are sharing screen space. With the film gearing up for release on August 30, the Telugu version's title and first look were released on Friday.

The Telugu version has been titled Bandobast and the first look and title were released by director SS Rajamouli. Rajamouli took to Twitter and said,"Happy to release the First Look of @Suriya_offl & @Mohanlal sir’s #Bandobast. Best wishes to @anavenkat & his entire team..:) @LycaProductions @arya_offl @Jharrisjayaraj @bomanirani @sayyeshaa

The project, which was wrapped up recently, also stars husband-and-wife duo Arya and Sayyeshaa along with Bollywood actor Boman Irani, Prem, Cirag Jani, Mayilsami and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.

Reports are that Mohanlal plays Arya’s father in the film. On Suriya’s role in Kaappaan, we hear that he will be seen as the bodyguard for Mohanlal and Arya. With Mohanlal playing a pivotal role in Kaappaan and Suriya having a huge fan following in Kerala, the film's Kerala distribution rights were recently bought by Tomichan Mulakuppadam for a big price.

The film has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar, with the former directing it. Kaappaan is being bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions. The project will be shot in nearly 10 countries and the crew has already zeroed in on some picturesque locations in New York, Brazil, England, Hyderabad and New Delhi.

Suriya's first release of the year was the Selvaraghavan directed political thriller NGK, which had received mixed reviews from critics and the audience and bombed at the box office. The actor is currently shooting for the Tamil action-drama Soorarai Pottru, a film based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath – founder of the budget airline Air Deccan, directed by Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame.

The team is currently filming some action sequences under the supervision of international stunt choreographer Greg Powell, who is known for his work in films such as Skyfall and Bourne Ultimatum. The film also stars Aparna Balamurali, last seen in Rajiv Menon’s Sarvam Thaala Mayam, as the female lead. While the rest of the cast is yet to be revealed by the makers, it was recently announced that Tollywood actor Mohan Babu has been roped in for a pivotal role in the film.
