Actor Darshana Rajendran has been roped in to play a pivotal role in Hridayam, a film directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. It was earlier announced that actors Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan are playing the lead roles in the film.

The film will be bankrolled by Visakh Subramaniam in association with Noble Thomas.

There is a buzz going on in tinsel town that Vineeth has approached Nivin Pauly to play a cameo in Hridayam and the actor may be playing the hero’s mentor.

Interestingly, the lead pair – Kalyani and Pranav -- has recently acted together in the upcoming film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. The film, which is yet to release, has Pranav’s dad Mohanlal in the lead role with Kalyani’s father Priyadarshan directing it.  Pranav will reportedly be seen playing the younger version of his dad in it.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is based on the true life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Set in the 16th century, it is based on the battle exploits of Kunjali Marakkars—the naval chieftains of the Zamorin of Kozhikode. It will have extensive sea warfare sequences which will be its highlight. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair.

Vineeth Sreenivasan, also an occasional actor, last acted in Manoharam in which he played the lead role. The film, which was directed by Anwar Saddiq, shows him as a struggling artist trying to set up a printing unit and falling in love with a new woman in town.

The last movie Vineeth directed is Jacobinte Swargarajyam with Nivin Pauly in the lead. The film, based on a real life story, released in 2016.

Darshana Rajendran is active in theatre and has appeared in a few films like Koode (playing Nazriya’s friend), Mayanadhi (playing Aishwarya’s friend) and latest in Virus, as Asif Ali’s infected wife.
