Dhruv Vikram was to have made his acting debut with the Bala directorial Varma, a remake of the hit Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. But this project was scrapped entirely after the shooting was completed owing to creative differences between director Bala and the producer.

Then the producers announced that the entire film will be re-shot with debutant Girisayya helming it as the director. The director had worked as an assistant to director Sandeep Vanga, who had directed Arjun Reddy.

In Adithya Varma, Dhruv will be reprising the role done by Vijay Deverakonda in the original. The producer had retained Dhruv Vikram and music composer Rothan for the new version of the remake while the rest of the star cast and crew were discarded.

While Bala’s version had Megha Chowdhury and Raiza Wilson as the female leads, the new version will have Banita Sandhu and Priya Anand in their place. Ravi K Chandran is cranking the camera for this venture. This film is now gearing up for release later in July.

With the release scheduled, its lead star Dhru Vikram has posted a moving tribute to his father Vikram, who stood as a pillar of strength behind him and ensured that Adithya Varma was through.

Dhruv wrote on Instagram, “For showing up everyday, never giving up, always pushing me to do better, never allowing anyone to settle for less, keeping the vision alive, never losing sight of the bigger picture, never allowing me to lose hope, for giving me and making me ‘Adithya Varma’, leaving no stone unturned, for always having my back and for teaching me everything you have and continue to.”

It may be noted here that Vikram gave priority his son’s film, so much so that he put behind all his projects on hold.
