Director Sunil Ibrahim made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the movie Chapters that had Nivin Pauly playing the lead. This film also had Sreenivasan and Lena Abilash in important roles. He then went on to wield the megaphone for Arikil Oraal, which again had Nivin Pauly as the hero. After producing the film Olappeeppi, which was released a couple of years ago, Sunil Ibrahim is back to don the director’s robes. This time around he has signed up Abhiram Suresh, Dheeraj Denny, Alencier Ley Lopez, Jins Baskar, Shini Ambalathodi, Sruthi Susen Sam, Reshma Shenoy and Anoop Ramesh for the film which has been titled Y. Interestingly, the director will be introducing over 40 new faces with Alencier Ley Lopez being the only known actor.

According to sources, the film is about an event that unfolds on the streets in front of the people and how each one of them reacts to it. Touted to be a suspense thriller, Y has been produced under the banner Vibezon Movies.

The film was shot at Keston Road in Thiruvananthapuram for a period of about 25 days and the entire shooting took place in the night as the story so demanded.

On bagging the role in Y, Abhiram Suresh said that when director Sunil Ibrahim posted a casting call for this film, he decided to give it a shot. Being a close friend of the director, Abhiram expressed his interest in acting and the director agreed to take him on board after finding his performance in the audition satisfactory.

The film has been in the making for a long time now with reports that it would hit the silver screens in August. However, the release was postponed and it is now confirmed that Y would be out at the theatres on November 17.
