Kannada actor Ganesh will be beginning the new year at the box office with Gimmick. Touted to be a horror comedy, the film is directed by Naganna. A major portion of the film has been shot at a house in Sri Lanka, with some portions shot in Mysuru and Bengaluru. The shooting of this film has been wrapped up and its first look was revealed recently. It may be noted here that Gimmick is Ganesh’s first attempt at horror comedy.

Gimmick will mark Ronica Singh’s debut in the Kannada film industry. Also starring in this flick are Ravi Shankar Gowda, Sadhu Kokila, Shobhraj and Sundar Raj in supporting roles. The film is bankrolled by Deepak Sami under his banner Sami Pictures. The technical crew for Gimmick comprises Arjun Janya for scoring music and Ravi Varma for choreographing the stunts. With the film’s shooting being wrapped up and the post-production happening full swing, Gimmick’s release date is expected to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, Ganesh has joined the sets of his upcoming film, Geetha. The first schedule of this film has been wrapped up recently. Geetha will mark the directorial debut of Vijay Nagendra and will be bankrolled by Golden Movies.

On working in this film, Ganesh was quoted by the Indian Express as saying, “We have been working on my character’s retro look over the past month and a half… Every year, I make sure one film is made under my home banner, Golden Movies. This time, I chose Geetha, which is made in association with SS Films. Geetha will be a special film for my career, as it shares its name with the Shankar Nag-starrer from the 1980s.”

Ganesh also has Preetham Gubbi’s 99, a remake of the Tamil blockbuster 96. The remake will have Ganesh and Bhavana reprising Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha’s roles from the original.
