Written by : Digital Native

A major clash at the Tollywood box-office has been averted with the postponement of the release of the Varun Tej starrer Valmiki to September 20. Earlier, reports emerged that Nani’s Gang Leader and Valmiki were gearing up for release on September 13. Finally, the issue has been resolved with Valmiki opting out of the race and postponing its release by a week.

Gang Leader is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravishankar and Mohan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers with Vikram K Kumar wielding the megaphone. Anirudh is the music director for this flick.

Valmiki is the remake of the hit Tamil movie Jigarthanda, which was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film has Varun Tej reprising the role done by Bobby Simha in Tamil. Atharvaa Murali will be seen in the role done by Siddharth in the original. Directed by Harish Shankar, this remake is bankrolled by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under their banner. On the technical front, Mickey J Meyer has been roped in to compose music for this flick with Ayanaka Bose handling the camera. Chota K Prasad will edit the film.

The pre-teaser of Valmiki was unveiled recently and got the attention of film buffs in a big way. The teaser featured the lead stars Varun Tej, Pooja Hegde and Atharvaa. From the teaser, which did not have any dialogues, it was apparent that Varun Tej will be seen in a new look in the film. He can be seen in a fierce avatar sporting a beard with a scar on his face.

It may be noted here that Gang Leader was initially planned as an August 30 release but was postponed when it was announced that Prabhas’ Saaho will hit the marquee on the same date. Sources in the know say that the makers of Gang Leader and Valmiki wanted to sort out the release issue amicably and agreed to place the release dates a week apart for the benefit of film buffs.
