Actor-producer Vijay Antony, last seen playing a cop in Thimiru Pudichavan, gears up to commence shoot of his next project Tamilarasan from Friday. To be produced by SNS Movies, Babu Yogeeswaran is directing the project which will have music by maestro Ilayaraja.

The makers made the announcement via a statement and it’s worth mentioning that it’s the first time Ilaiyaraaja would be scoring music for Vijay Antony, who has usually doubled up as composer for all his projects so far.

The film had its formal launch ceremony on Friday and it will feature Remya Nambeesan as the leading lady.

Talking about roping in Ilaiyaraaja for the project, the director was quoted by Deccan Chronicle: “The film has lot of emotions and background score is of utter importance. Except Raja sir no one can do justice to my script’s BGM. Hence, we opted for Isaignani.”

He also clarified that the film is not based on the life of controversial personality Ponparappi Tamilarasan, a Naxalite. The film marks the acting debut of filmmaker Mohan Raja’s son Pranav in a crucial role.

With two projects in different stages of production, Antony is expected to commence work on this project very soon. Having completed shooting his portion for Kolaigaran, Antony will soon start shooting for a multi-starrer project with Arun Vijay. Produced by T Siva, this film has been directed Moodar Koodam fame Naveen. Recently, it was announced that the film will also star Arun Vijay as one of the leads. Shalini Pandey has been signed as the leading.

On the career front, Antony’s last few releases haven’t done well and he’s desperately on the lookout for a hit.
