After proving his mettle in khaki with Siruthai, Karthi returns as a straightforward cop in his next film Dheeran – Adhigaaram Ondru, and he will be teaming up with Rakul Preet for the first time.

Tipped to be a crime-thriller, the film is based on stories about how cops deal with certain cases and the repercussions that follow. Vinoth, who earlier made Sathuranga Vettai, will helm this project which is slated to go on the floors on January 17. Ghibran has been roped in to compose music for the film and he has already begun working on the album.

According to the film’s producer SR Prabhu, nearly 60 per cent of the film will be shot across the locales of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Abhimanyu Singh, best known for his performance in films such as Thalaivaa and Rakht Charitra, has been roped in to play the antagonist, with intense negative shades. Karthi, who had lost a lot of weight for Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai, is likely to muscle up to play his role.

The rest of the cast and crew will be announced in a week’s time. The film will be bankrolled under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.
