Karthi has wrapped up shooting for Kadai Kutty Singam, which is produced by his brother Suriya under the banner 2D Entertainments and is directed by Pandiraj. While Sayyesha plays the lead opposite Karthi, the star cast also includes Sathyaraj, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Arthana Binu in pivotal roles. The film has D Imman composing the tunes with Velraj cranking the camera and Rubens editing it.

The film ran into trouble with the Animal Welfare Board of India objecting to the filming of the Rekla race as it involved animals, which is against the Supreme Court ruling. However, the team managed to film the shoot at a race that was conducted in Pudukottai after the Collector granted permission to organise the race in the area.

While Kadai Kutty Singam has gone into the post-production mode and is gearing up for release soon, Karthi has moved on to his next venture. His upcoming film is being directed Rajat Ravishankar and is bankrolled by Prince Pictures. While the shooting for this film is underway, there is no official word about its title. However, reports have now emerged that the film’s title may be Dev.

Rakul Preet Singh has been roped in to play the lead opposite Karthi and the star cast also includes yesteryear heartthrob Karthik in a pivotal role. Baahubali fame Ramya Krishnan has also bagged a meaty role in it with Renuka, Amrutha, Prakash Raj and Vigneshkanth playing supporting roles.

With Karthi’s last outing, Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, doing well at the box office and getting positive reviews, expectations are high on these two films which will be out in theatres this year. There are rumours doing the rounds that the actor might reunite with director H Vinoth next year for a Theeran sequel. However, these reports are premature and we will have to wait for an official announcement.
