Lakshmi Manchu's 'Mrs Subbalakshmi' to release on March 8

To be telecast on Zee5, the show will mark Lakshmi Manchu's foray into the digital platform.

Lakshmi Manchu, Tollywood actor and television host, will be soon making her debut in the digital platform. Titled as Mrs Subbalakshmi, the show will be telecast on Zee5 on March 8 to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

Lakshmi Manchu herself confirmed the news via Twitter last week.  Sharing the details, Lakshmi Manchu wrote in her tweet, “#MrsSubbalakshmi arrives on your favorite digital platform this #WomensDay, #8thMarch! Gear up for a full on fun and fantastic comedy entertaining series on @ZEE5India..Super excited for this one!   

Zee5 channel also confirmed the same via a tweet. “Ladies, you are sure to strike a chord. And dear gentlemen, watch it till the end. #MrsSubbalakshmi Premieres on March 8 #ZEE5. @LakshmiManchu @AvasaralaSrini @MaheshVitta #comedianvenutillu #ZEE5Originals,” they wrote.

Reports are that Mrs Subbalakshmi will be based on the story of a married couple. On the storyline, we hear that it is about a husband who neglects his wife and even forgets their wedding anniversary. How the wife reacts to it and ends up celebrating the day all alone forms the crux of the story.  Mrs Subbalakshmi will have Lakshmi Manchu playing the titular role with Srinivas Avasarala as her husband. Written by Balabhadrapatruni Ramani, it is directed by Vamsi.

Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of veteran Tollywood actor Mohan Babu, made her acting debut with the American television series Las Vegas, where she played the role of Sarasvati Kumar. She has starred in one episode of each of the series - Desperate Housewives, Late Nights with my Lover and Mystery ER. She has also appeared in commercials for Toyota, AARP and Chevrolet.

She made her debut in Telugu with Anaganaga O Dheerudu. She followed it up with films like Mani Ratnam’s Kadal in Tamil, Gundello Godari, Chandamama Kathalu, Dongaata among others.

He last Telugu release was W/o Ram, directed  by debutant Vijay Yelakanti. The director is an erstwhile associate of ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The film was jointly produced by Manchu Entertainments along with People Media Factory.

She also starred in the Tamil remake of the hit Bollywood flick Tumhaari Sulu where Jyothika reprised the role done by Vidya Balan. Lakshmi Manchu played the role of Neha Dhupia who played the head of a radio station in the original version.
