In the second edition of reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil, actors Mahat Raghavendra and Aishwarya Dutta were among the top favourite contestants with a huge fanbase. Following their popularity on the show, the duo is joining hands for a Tamil rom-com. The yet-untitled project will be directed by debut filmmaker Prabu Ram C, who happens to be a former associate of Hollywood director Randy Kent, most popular for directing the horror flick The Perfect House.

And now comes the news that Mahat has inked a deal to star in another project that will have Yashika Anand starring opposite him. Incidentally, Yashika was also his housemate in Bigg Boss Tamil season 2. The muhurat of the Yashika – Mahat project happened last week in Chennai. The film will be helmed by filmmaker duo Magven (Magesh – Venkatesh) and is touted to be a horror thriller. The as yet untitled project will be made in Tamil and Kannada.

Mahat Raghavendra made his acting debut in 2006 with the Simbu starrer Vallavan in an uncredited role while his break came with Ajith’s Mankatha in 2011. His first lead role was in the Telugu film Backbench Student in 2013 in which he shared screen space with Piaa Bajpai and Archana Kavi. His last film release was Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, which came out last year and had Simbu in the lead playing his first triple role.

Mahat is currently busy with the Sundar C directorial, Vantha Rajavaathan Varuven, which has Simbu playing the lead role along with Megha Akash and Catherine Tresa. Mahat has already commenced shooting for the project and didn’t mind doing a brief role alongside his friend Simbu. A remake of Pawan Kalyan’s smash Telugu hit, Attarintiki Daredi, the film is slated to hit the marquee next year.

Yashika, who rose to fame with her role in Iruttu Arayil Muruttu Kuthu, was recently seen in Anand Shankar’s Nota.
