Mammootty completes shooting for ‘Ganagandharvan’

Touted to be a complete entertainer, the Ramesh Pisharody directorial will have Mammootty playing the role of a ganamela singer.

Malayalam mega star Mammootty has completed shooting for his portions in the upcoming film Ganagandharvan. This was confirmed by the film’s director Ramesh Pisharody through a Facebook post in which he wrote, “If we wholeheartedly wish to do a film with Mammukka, he will stand with us to make it happen.”

The comedian-turned-director also shared the first look of the lead star which looks interesting. In the movie, Mammootty plays the role of a ganamela singer named Kalasadan Ullas, we hear.

The makers have roped in debutant Vanditha to play the female lead. Touted to be a complete entertainer, the film will also star Manoj K Jayan, Dharmajan, Suresh Krishna and Hareesh Kanaran. The technical crew of Ganagandharvan comprises Deepak Dev for music, Alagappan for cinematography and Lijo John Paul for editing. The film is scripted by Ramesh Pisharody and Hari P Nair. The film is bankrolled by Ramesh and ICHAIS Productions.

It may be noted here that Ramesh Pisharody made his debut as director with the Malayalam film Panchavarnathatha starring Jayaram in the lead. Released in April last year, the film was produced by Maniyanpilla Raju under the Maniyanpilla Raju Productions banner. According to trade reports, Panchavarnathatha had fetched its makers about Rs 11 crore within 12 days of its release.

With Mammootty wrapping up the shooting of Ganagandharvan, he is ready to move on to Shylock. The official pooja of this film happened recently and the shooting will commence on August 7. This will be a bilingual that will be released in Tamil and Malayalam.

Helmed by Ajai Vasudev, this is the third time the director is teaming up with Mammootty. Shylock will have Meena playing the female lead and veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran in an important role. Interestingly, the film will mark the debut of Raj Kiran in the Malayalam film industry.
