Actor Mammootty launched the first look poster of Tovino Thomas’s Edakkad Battalion 06 on his social media page. "Best wishes to the entire team," the star wrote. It has been reported that Tovino plays an army officer in the film and his get up in the first look is something that his fans have started to rave about now. It is also evident that the actor has done a lot of research for the project to get into the skin of the character.

Wielding the megaphone for this venture is debut director Swapnesh K Nair. Dr Shrikant Bhasi, Thomas Joseph Pattathanam, and Jayant Mammen are bankrolling the project under the banner of Ruby Films. P Balachandran has penned the script for this flick and he will be seen playing Tovino’s dad in it. Joy Mathew, Sudheesh, Rekha, Samyuktha Menon and Abu Saleem have been roped in to play pivotal roles. Reports are that Edakkad Battalion 06 is inspired by a true story, the details of which are kept under wraps for now. The technical team includes Sinu Sidharth for camera work, Kailas Menon to compose music and Rathin Radhakrishnan for editing.

Meanwhile, Tovino is busy with Kilometers and Kilometers, Minnal Murali, Bhoomi and a few other projects. Of this, Kilometers and Kilometers have reached the post-production stage. Tovino has also signed the film 563 St. Charles Street, which will be helmed by Rony Roy and bankrolled by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema. It is a horror flick inspired by some true-life incidents. The film will be shot extensively in the US and Canada. Apart from directing the film, Rony Roy has also penned the story of this film. Sangeeth Jain has penned the screenplay and the rest of the technical crew includes Jakes Bejoy for music composition and Sreejith Sarang for editing with Jigme Tenzing cranking the camera.
