Mammootty and Shamdat Sainudeen are teaming up for the film titled Street Lights which is progressing at a brisk pace. And now we hear that the makers of this film are keen on releasing it in Telugu as well.

The film, touted to be an investigation thriller is being made as a bilingual, shot in Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously with plans on dubbing it in Telugu. The first look poster of the film, which sees Mammootty as a no-nonsense cop wielding a gun, has gone viral and this has upped the expectation levels for the film.

Being a Tamil – Malayalam bilingual, the team is shooting the film twice with the supporting cast being different for the Tamil and Malayalam versions. Touted to be a crime thriller, Street Lights is being directed by Shamdat Sainudeen and produced under the banner Play House Motion Picture. The film stars Mammootty and Vishnu Unnikrishnan in the lead roles. While the Malayalam version will have Dharmajan Bolghatty, Hareesh Kanaaran, Lijomol Jose in the star cast, in the Tamil version, it will be Pandiraj, Manobala. Though the Street Lights team is keeping every detail about the film a secret, we hear from sources that Mammootty will be seen as a cop in it and his character is named Inspector James.

Shamdat, an acclaimed cinematographer having cranked the camera for several Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films, will be making his directorial debut with Street Lights. He impressed Mammootty with an exceptional script and immediately got his assent to direct the film, say sources. With the bilingual shaping up well, the team is planning to release it in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu simultaneously.  Reports say that Street Lights will hit the marquee in January next year and the exact date will be announced soon.

The Malayalam film Street Lights will be distributed by Mammootty’s production and distribution house ‘Playhouse’.

Mammootty was last seen in Shyamdhar's comedy film Pullikkaran Staraa, co-starring Asha Sarath and Deepti Sati, which released in September 2017.
