Mani Ratnam’s upcoming multistarrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (CCV), which went on the floors earlier this year, has resumed shooting after the nearly 50-day long Kollywood strike, courtesy a stand-off between the Tamil Film Producers’ Council and Digital Service Providers over the exorbitant Visual Print Fee.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jyothika and Aditi Rao Hydari, currently the team is filming in Chennai. Lensman Santosh Sivan, who is joining hands with Mani Ratnam for the sixth time, has been sharing updates from the shoot on social media.

After the film went on the floors earlier this month, the cinematographer had posted a series of pictures from the sets. Earlier this week, he tweeted that the team had resumed shooting in Chennai. Early on Wednesday morning, he tweeted: “Awesome filming Vijay Sethupathi @ CCV shoot.”

The film also stars senior actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. It is rumoured that they will be seen playing a couple and Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay and Simbu will be seen as their sons. It has also been confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi, who will be seen in an extended role, plays a fearless cop. If everything goes as planned, the makers are eyeing a year-end release.

The film, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu as Nawab, has music by AR Rahman. The project marks Mani Ratnam’s first-time collaboration with actors such as Jyothika, Arun Vijay, Simbu and Vijay Sethupathi. Originally, the film was supposed to star Fahadh Faasil as one of the leads. Following the delay in the commencement of the project, he opted out and was eventually replaced by Arun Vijay, who has reportedly been working out really hard for the project. Simbu, too, has shed weight to essay his role in the film.
