Mohanlal made a surprise visit to the launch event of Mammootty’s new film Ganagandharvan on Saturday.

Directed by comedian-turned-director Ramesh Pisharody, the film had its official launch on Saturday and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal came to wish the entire crew of the film.

The film has Mammootty playing the lead character named Kalasadanan Ullas. The project was announced last year and the title poster of this film was unveiled on the Kerala Piravi Day and it was played in all theatres that screened Mohanlal’s Drama, which released on the same day at the theatres. Though it was announced last year the film only went on floors now as Mammootty had to wrap up his big-budgeted period action drama Maamankaam.

Produced by Maniyanpilla Raju under the banner Maniyanpilla Raju Productions, the makers have roped in debutant Vanditha to play the female lead. It is also said that the film will have three more female actors in pivotal roles. It also features Mukesh, Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan Bolghatty, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Sunil Sukhada and Maniyanpilla Raju in important roles. The film has been scripted by Ramesh Pisharody along with Hari P Nair. While the cinematography will be taken care of by Alagappan, the editing will be done by Lijo Paul.  Deepak Dev is in charge of the music.

Mammootty is also going to work in a film called One, scripted by Bobby and Sanjay. The actor is believed to play Kerala Chief Minister in the political film. Meanwhile, Maamaankam, that he has been busy with, is a historical based on a medieval fair for warriors. This week, Mammootty's film Unda is releasing in time for Eid.

Mammootty's latest release Madhura Raja, sequel to his 2010 film Pokkiri Raja, that released last month has managed to enter the Rs 100 crore club in 45 days. The film sees Mammootty reprising his role as Raja. Directed by Vysakh, the action entertainer bankrolled by Nelson Ipe, saw Tamil actor Jai make his debut in the Malayalam film industry.
