Lucifer, which is slated to release on March 28, is a highly anticipated film. Not just because it marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran but because of its star cast. Apart from Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, the movie will also feature Tovino Thomas, Indrajith and Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles.

On Tuesday, just two days before the movie’s release, there is now a surprise reveal about Lucifer. Mohanlal tweeted a new poster of the film which reveals that Prithviraj will be seen as Zayed Masood. The poster also features an intriguing shot of Prithviraj from the movie wearing a black t-shirt, vest and beanie, looking determined.

The new poster has created even more expectations from the movie now that the director himself seems to be playing a cameo.

Touted to be a political thriller, Mohanlal plays a politician in this film and his character is named Stephen Nedumballi. Those in the supporting roles include Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, Saniya Iyappan, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas, Nyla Usha and Mala Parvathy.

The technical crew of the film comprises Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Deepak Dev is in charge of the music. Veteran writer and actor Murali Gopy has penned the script for Lucifer. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

The trailer of the film is out and met with good response from fans. The film was censored recently and was certified ‘U’ with no cuts.

Prithviraj’s most recent release was 9, which was the first film to be produced by Prithviraj Productions. The film opened to moderately good reviews but did not set the box office on fire. Prithviraj also played the lead role in the film.

Mohanlal and Manju Warrier were seen together last in Odiyan, a fantasy period film which opened to huge expectations but received near unanimous poor reviews. The film marked ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar’s debut directorial and was among the most expected films of 2018. However, it was heavily criticised for its unimaginative plot and storytelling.
