Mukundan’s 'Chanakya Thanthram' to release on April 27

The film has Sshivada and Shruthi Ramakrishnan playing the female leads.

Unni Mukundan’s upcoming film Chanakya Thanthram is due to hit the silver screens this year and according to latest reports, it will be out on April 27th. The release date has been confirmed and the lead star took to Facebook to make a formal announcement about it.

Directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam, the film has Sshivada and Shruthi Ramakrishnan playing the female leads.

The star cast of Chanakya Thanthram also includes Anoop Menon in a pivotal role. The last time Anoop Menon and Unni Mukundan had shared screen space was three years ago, it may be recalled here.

Expectations are soaring for this flick mainly because Unni Mukundan will be dressing up like a woman. His pics in the get-up garnered a lot of attention and now, movie buffs are eager to know what it is all about. Speaking about the film to Times of India, Kannan had previously said: "Sshivada will be doing a modern character which she has not done in Malayalam cinema so far. Her character is the CEO of a big company, a strong woman."

Unni Mukundan made his debut with the Tamil film Seedan in which he had shared screen space with Dhanush and Ananya. He then went on to star in films such as Bombay March 12, Bangkok Summer, Ithu Pathiramanal, Vikramadithyan, Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander, etc. His first film release this year was the horror thriller Bhagmathie which was out in theatres on January 26. The film, directed by G Ashok, starred Anushka Shetty, Unni Mukundan, Jayaram and Asha Sarath in the lead roles. Produced by V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod under the banner UV Creations, the film went on to collect Rs. 80 crores at the box office. S Thaman had composed music for this venture with R Madhie cranking the camera and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao editing it.

With Chanakya Thanthram gearing up for release on April 27th, Unni Mukundan’s fans are waiting eagerly for the film.
