In a bid to raise more funds for new Nadigar Sangam building, the association is planning a grand ‘star night’ in Malaysia on January 6. A series of events are being held in Kuala Lumpur on January 6 to collect funds for construction of an own building by the Nadigar Sangam. The events include a star cricket, a soccer match between actors from Kollywood and stars from Malaysian cinema and a variety cultural show. The event will happen at Bukit Jalil and around 80,000 spectators will be gracing over this occasion.

Nadigar Sangam president Nasser confirmed that the two stalwarts of the Tamil film industry, Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan along with actor Vijay and Nadigar Sangam's former president Vijayakanth will be present at the star cricket tourney and the event will be presided over by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. About 100 Tamil actors will take part in a celebrity cricket league which features six teams headed by Vishal, Surya, Karthi and others. Natchatchira Vizha is organised by the Malaysian government, in association with the Nadigar Sangam.

After a fierce election battle for the Nadigar Sangam Vishal’s team won the elections against the team headed by actor R Sarath Kumar, putting an end to his nine-year-long tenure

The newly-elected members of the Sangam include president Nasser, general secretary Vishal, treasurer Karthi who had promised on constructing the building in their election manifesto.

In April superstar Rajinikanth and actor Kamal Haasan had laid the foundation stone for the new Nadigar Sangam building.

To collect funds for the building, the Sangam had also conducted a cricket tournament last year.

The estimated budget for the new building is around Rs 26 crores, for which several activities are planned and in the first phase, actor Vishal said that a modern state-of-the-art building would come up by September 2018.
