The Tamil movie 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha as the lead pair, turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. The film, released on October 4, received widespread appreciation from film buffs, critics and film personalities.

With the cash registers tingling, 96 is turning out to be a mega grosser as well. All this has paved way for its remake in Telugu. Tollywood’s top producer Dil Raju will be bankrolling the remake under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations and all eyes are now on who would be reprising the role done by Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the original.

Earlier, there were reports of Nani showing interest in starring in the remake but this news has now been denied by sources close to him. We also get to hear that the actor is more interested in co-producing the venture along with Dil Raju. However, there is no clarity on this yet.

Some reports suggest that Trisha, who was seen in the original version, may get to do the same role in Telugu and another section reports that talks are on with Samantha Akkineni. An official confirmation on who would be the heroine in the 96 remake is the most awaited news now in Tollywood.

96 is a C Prem Kumar directorial which has been bankrolled by Nandagopal under the Madras Enterprises banner. The star cast also includes Varsha Bollamma, Aadithya Baaskar, Gouri G Kishan, Devadarshini, Janagaraj and Bagavathi Perumal in supporting roles.
