Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen playing a character called Jithu in superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta, has an interesting line up of projects this year. One among these projects is a film with director Vijay Chandar, best known for directing Vikram starrer Sketch.

In September last year, Vijay Chandar took to Twitter and wrote: “Happy to announce that I’ll be joining hands with my favorite hero Vijay Sethupathi for next film with Vijaya Productions. We’re set to roll from February (2019).”

Apparently, this yet-untitled project will be a commercial family entertainer that’ll be predominantly set in Chennai. It was already announced that D Imman will compose music.

It was earlier confirmed that Raashi Khanna has been signed as one of the leading ladies. This will be the first time she will play Vijay’s pair. An excited Raashi took to Twitter to make the announcement last month.

Raashi, who made her Tamil debut via Imaikka Nodigal last year, currently has nearly half a dozen Tamil projects. The latest update is that Nivetha Pethuraj, last seen in Vijay Antony’s Thimiru Pudichavan, has been signed as the second leading lady.

While the makers are yet to make an official announcement, reliable sources have already verified the news. Interestingly, this will also be Nivetha’s first time pairing with Sethupathi.

Talking about the project, Vijay Chandar was quoted in Times of India: “I’ve met Vijay Sethupathi a few times, and during one of those meetings, I happened to narrate a one-liner about the film to him, and he was kicked. He has done a variety of roles, and he told that he wanted to do a mass film now. Even I like making mass commercial films, and we thought this script could work for both of us.”
