A pre-wedding reception of producer and filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth and actor and businessman Vishagan Vanangamudi was held at Raghavendra Kalyanamandapam in Chennai on Friday. The reception was a private affair with only family members attending the event. Pictures from the event that were shared on Twitter show the couple standing on a stage, surrounded by their family members.
Draped in a gorgeous blue and gold silk saree, Soundarya is seen accompanied by her fiancé Vishagan, who is dressed in a cream shirt and veshti. Pictures from the ceremony show the bride’s family members, including father and actor Rajinikanth seen wearing a simple white kurta pyjama, sister Aishwarya and mother Latha.
Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth are seen on stage, welcoming guests. Both Aishwarya and Latha are seen twining in lime green Kanjeevarams.
The wedding is slated to take place in Chennai on February 11. Vishagan Vanangamudi, who made his acting debut in 2018 with Vanjagar Ulagam, is the son of SS Vanangamudi, Founder of Apex Laboratories Pvt Ltd., a Chennai based pharmaceutical company.
On February 4, Soundarya Rajinikanth confirmed the news of her wedding with a post on Twitter. Sharing a photograph of herself dressed in a silk saree and wearing gold jewellery, Soundarya had tweeted the following hashtags - ‘Bride Mode’, ‘One week to go’ and ‘Ved Vishagan Soundarya’.

Last week, Latha Rajinikanth had written to the Teynampet police station requesting for bandobast at their Poes Garden residence on February 10 and 12. Not specifying the reason, Latha had only mentioned that they are expecting guests on those two dates at their house. Rajinikanth had on Thursday met fellow actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan to invite him for Soundarya's wedding.
Quite recently photos of the couple, with Vishagan dressed in a suit and seated on a sofa with Soundarya right behind him, were shared widely.
Soundarya, Rajinikanth’s younger daughter, was previously married to industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar. The filmmaker filed for divorce at a family court in Chennai in December 2016, six years after marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has a son named Ved Krishna.
