Actor Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, has been served a 'Red Notice’ by the Producers' Council headed by actor Vishal.

According to sources, the notice was served because the producer of Silambarasan's last film Anbanavan Adangadhavan Asaradhavan complained to the Producers' Council about Silambarasan not turning up for the shoot.

"They should have called both parties and spoken. But they didn't do that. Silambarasan was supposed to be paid Rs 3.5 crore, which he didn't receive. This is why he didn't go for the shoot," a source close to Silambarasan claimed.

"Further, they've been calling directors and telling them to drop Simbu from their films. Why should they do that?" the source asked.

A release from the actor's side alleges that the notice was served because of an interview that director Ameer gave a media house.

In the interview given to Indiaglitz, director Ameer alleges that Vishal is trying to stop Silambarasan's journey and that he has an ulterior motive for doing so. Ameer says that it's because Silambarasan was in the opposition team along with Sarath Kumar during the hotly contested Nadigar Sangam elections that he has been targeted.

Ameer further says that director Mani Ratnam, who has cast Silambarasan in his next film, has been receiving calls asking him to drop the actor. The 'Red Notice’, according to the release sent by the actor's team, prevents him from acting in Tamil films till the issue is resolved.

Silambarasan's last film Anbanavan Adangadhavan Asaradhavan bombed at the box-office. The actor has been looking to bounce back since then.

Silambarasan remains a controversial figure in Kollywood. Rumours about his tendency to show up late for shoots and his unprofessional behaviour have been doing the rounds for long. He has also been at the centre of several controversies, including a row over the leaked ‘Beep Song’ which had lycrics derogatory to women.
