Kannada actor Yash is basking in glory over his last film KGF turning out to be a mega grosser. Following its success, the actor is gearing up for its sequel. The second part, titled KGF: Chapter 2, was launched with a traditional pooja earlier this year. The film will reportedly go on the floors on June 6 in Mysuru.

The latest buzz is that the makers have roped in Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon to essay a pivotal role in the film. According to sources, she will be playing ex-prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi, in the film, but an official confirmation on the same is awaited.

There are also reports that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt might play the antagonist in the second part. While there is no official update, Yash had earlier told Asian Age in an interview, “We had offered him Chapter one, which he did not accept perhaps for reasons of date availability. But yes, we have offered him Chapter 2 of KGF.” If Sanjay Dutt agrees to hop onboard this project, this will be his first ever south Indian film.

KGF: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Vijay Kiragandur produced the project under his banner Hombale Films. The film has Yash playing the lead role and paired up opposite him is Srinidhi Shetty as the heroine. The rest of the star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash, Nassar, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha.

The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar. KGF: Chapter 1, which hit the marquee in December last year, was released in five languages simultaneously – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam, and Yash instantly became a star with a pan-Indian appeal.

Following the runaway success of KGF, which emerged as the first Kannada film to breach the Rs 200 crore club worldwide, the hype for KGF: Chapter 2 has reached unprecedented heights.
