RJ Balaji turns writer and lead for upcoming Tamil political satire 'LKG'

Popular radio jockey turned actor RJ Balaji, who has so far played second fiddle to heroes, is all set to play the lead in upcoming Tamil political satire LKG. He also doubles up as story and screenplay writer for the project, which is rumoured to be the remake of Danish Sait starrer Kannada film Humble Politician Nograj.

While the makers haven’t officially announced it as a remake, however, going by the first look poster and the industry grapevine it is believed to be one. It’s worth mentioning that both Danish and Balaji are well-known radio jockeys who have strongly voiced their opinions about the political climate in their respective states.

Over the last few weeks, rumours made the rounds that Balaji has been planning to make his political entry. On May 11, RJ Balaji uploaded a party flag image on his social pages and folks immediately went on a tizzy, speculating his political entry. But given Balaji’s reputation, many expected it to be a prank of some sort.

On Thursday, the actor again dropped a mysterious hint that CSK players would share the details of his next venture at 7 pm during the CSK interview.

It turns out all that hype was for this new project LKG, which will be directed by Prabhu. Balaji plays the titular role while Priya Anand has been signed as the leading lady. On Friday evening, when the project was officially launched via a poster, Priya took to Twitter and wrote that she’s thrilled to be part of the project.

Leon James has been signed to compose the music, Cinematography is by Vidhu Ayyanna, edit will be by Anthony. To be bankrolled by Isari Ganesh, the rest of the cast and crew of the project are yet to be finalized. Last seen playing a police officer in Sai Pallavi’s Diya, Balaji is expected to commence shooting for LKG from next month.
