Veteran director Sathyan Anthikad, who had won the National Award for the Best Feature Film for Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in 2001 and a few Kerala State Awards besides a host of other prestigious awards, will soon be teaming up with two of the talented actors in the Malayalam film industry.

In fact, the filmmaker will be working with the veteran actor Sreenivasan after a gap of 16 years and the film will also have the National Award winning actor Fahadh Faasil in the lead.

Titled as Malayalee, the film will be directed by Sathyan Anthikad and scripted by Sreenivasan. According to reports, Malayalee is a film about a young man named Prakash who goes on to change his name as PR Akash and what ensues further is the rest of the story.

This is Fahadh’s second film with Sathyan Anthikad after the hit film Oru Indian Pranayakatha. Sathyan Anthikkad wished a Happy Vishu and announced his new movie Malayalee through a Facebook post. He wrote: “Sreenivasan and I were waiting for a new story. We thought of different stories and dropped them. One early morning I found Sreenivasan sitting in the front room. ‘Got the story’, he said. ‘We don’t have to go anywhere for stories, there are characters all around us.’ Dasan, Vijayan, Gopalakrishna Panicker, Murali, Kanjana, Shyamala and Thalathil Dineshan were all characters Sreeni found from around us.  Now he says let’s tell the story of Prakashan, the man who changed his name to P.R. Akash by putting it up on the gazette.”

Malayalee will be bankrolled by Sethu Mannarkad under this banner Full Moon Cinema and it will go on to the floors in July this year. Meanwhile, the team is busy with the prep work and Fahadh Faasil will be wrapping up his current assignments to join the sets.

The star’s last release was Carbon earlier this year and it went on to fetch positive reviews. He has a bunch of films in various stages of production waiting for release this year. Among the lot are Trance and the Tamil film Super Deluxe, in which he shares the screen space with another maverick actor Vijay Sethupathi. Malayalee is expected to release later this year.
