Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which marks his reunion with filmmaker Shankar after two decades, finally went on to the floors on Monday. Actor Rakul Preet Singh, who plays one of the leading ladies, took to Instagram to share a boomerang video from the sets of the film which is being produced by Lyca Productions.  In the video, she’s seen getting ready for a shoot in the makeup room and has a dialogue sheet in her hand. The project will mark Rakul’s maiden collaboration with Haasan and Shankar. According to the grapevine, she will be seen playing Siddharth’s pair in the film which also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Priya Bhavani Shankar in crucial roles.

On being signed for the project, Rakul recently told Times of India, “It’s a sequel to one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema and I’m really kicked about being a part of it. I was excited when I was offered the role because it’s a Shankar-Kamal Haasan combination and getting a chance to work with legends like that so early in my career is an opportunity I did not want to miss,” she said.

Having released the first poster of the film on the occasion of Pongal earlier this year, the makers hope to wrap up the shooting in the next six months. The first poster featured Haasan displaying his ‘varma-kalai’ skill as the octogenarian vigilante Senapathy from Indian.

A week ago, Kamal Haasan revealed in an episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 3 that he has gotten rid of his moustache because he’s required to shoot with a clean shaven look for both Indian 2 and his upcoming political thriller, Thalaivan Irukkindran. It was also revealed recently that lensman Ravi Varman opted out of Indian 2 to keep himself available for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Apparently, Shankar had immediately contacted cinematographer Rathnavelu, who had previously worked in Enthiran, as a replacement for Ravi Varman.
