Well-known production house Studio Green on Sunday via a tweet announced that it has roped in actors Simbu and Gautham Karthik for a mega budget action thriller. The yet-untitled project, which will mark the first time union of Simbu and Gautham, will be directed by debutant Narthan.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with STR for the first time. A mega budget action thriller starring STR and Gautham Karthik. Directed by super talented Narthan.” Writer-lyricist Madhan Karky was also tagged in the tweet and it can be assumed that he’s been roped in most likely to write the dialogues.

Interesting update is that this project is the official remake of recent Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which starred Shivrajkumar, Muralist, Shanvi Srivastav and Chaya Singh. The film is centered on a police officer, played by Srimurali, who goes head to head with an underworld boss, played by Shivrajkumar.

The film was directed by Narthan, who has been signed to helm the remake as well. Apparently, Simbu will be seen playing the underworld boss and Gautham Karthik will don khaki for the first time in the role of a police officer. The makers are yet to sign the rest of the cast and crew. Reliable sources have confirmed that the regular shooting will commence from June or July.

Gautham Karthik, who currently awaits the release of Devarattam, also has a film titled Chella Pillai. Simbu, who was last seen in Sundar C’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, has Venkat Prabhu’s Manaadu and the project is expected to go on the floors in the next few months.

It is believed that Simbu will complete his portion on this project first and then keep himself available for Manaadu. Simbu is currently in London where he has gone to shed weight for his role in the film. It is believed that shoot will begin as soon he returns from his trip. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised shortly.
