Ever since it was announced that Simbu and Venkat Prabhu are set to join hands for a yet-untitled project, rumours emerged that it’s going to be a gangster flick. However, sources close to the Saroja director have denied these reports and added that the film will be an action-thriller but definitely not a gangster film.

It has also been clarified that the film’s title is not Athiradi and it doesn’t feature Simbu as a gangster.

On joining hands with Simbu, Prabhu took to Twitter and wrote: “Yes, it’s official! My next is with my brother STR. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi and it’s a fresh script. Not a sequel. Artists, technicians, title and other details will follow! Get ready to be rocked. Need all your love and blessing as always.”

Prabhu, best known for films such as Chennai 600028 and Mankatha, currently awaits the release of Tamil multi-starrer Party.

It was recently announced that Simbu has four interesting projects, including a yet-untitled film with Vijaya Productions. According to a statement released by his PR team, his next project will be with Vijaya Productions, and apparently the popular banner has signed Simbu for a whopping remuneration.

The statement also added that Simbu has directorial plans and he will commence work on the project later this year. He also has signed a new project with Kabali producer Kalaipuli Thanu. More information regarding these projects are yet awaited. Simbu also has a sequel to Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya with Gautham Menon; however, this project will not materialize until 2019.
