Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ to release in theatres for Ramzan

The makers recently announced that they are postponing the release of 'Doctor' in view of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The makers of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming Kollywood movie Doctor announced on Thursday that the film will release in theatres on the occasion of Ramzan. Doctor was initially slated for release on March 26, but the makers announced on Tuesday that they are postponing the release in view of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. They also added that more information about the release will be available shortly.   

KJR Studios, the production house behind Doctor, took to Twitter to announce the film’s new release date. “Get ready to witness Dr. Varun & Co in Doctor on the special occasion of Ramzan- a grand festival release. We’re going to take this time to sharpen our knives and refill our syringes,” the note read. They also urged the public to exercise their right to vote during the Assembly elections in the state, scheduled to be held on April 6. “In the meantime, we urge you to take the effort to go and vote. Vote responsibly. Let every vote count,” the statement read. 
 

Doctor, touted to be a dark comedy, is directed by filmmaker Nelson Dilip and bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan under his home banner. Nelson and Sivakarthikeyan have teamed up for the first time for this venture. Nelson is well-known for his 2018 movie Kolamaavu Kokila. Actor Priyanka Mohan will be starring opposite Sivakarthikeyan in Doctor, which will also feature Vinay, Yogi Babu, Ilavarasu and Archana in important roles. 

The technical crew of Doctor comprises Nirmal for editing, K Vijay Karthik for cinematography, choreography duo Anbariv for stunts and Anirudh Ravichander for music. 

Sivakarthikeyan currently has several projects in his kitty. He will be seen in Ravi Kumar directorial Ayalaan, where he will be essaying a triple role for the first time in his career. He has also teamed up with filmmaker Cibi Chakaravarthi for his debut directorial venture, which is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Meanwhile, the actor also awaits the release of his third production venture Vaazhl, which is spearheaded by Aruvi fame director Arun Prabhu.
