Karthi is basking in the success of his latest outing Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, which has appealed to critics and audiences alike. Apart from impressing the viewers, the film also made an impact at the box-office, emerging as the first genuine hit in the actor’s career in a long time. Speaking at the success meet of the film on Sunday, Karthi said that the film’s success has given him a lot of confidence.
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, he was quoted as saying, “The success of this movie has given me a lot of confidence that I can try such new genres (which are neither a high commercial masala nor a very realistic movie) in future. I sincerely follow what my brother Suriya used to tell me. ‘Please keep working! One day, you will reap results.’ Each time when my film gets released, people always compare it with my debut film Paruthiveeran and comment that nothing comes near that flick. Now, finally, I am happy that Theeran… has surpassed that and people say this is the best film of mine. Many have been appreciating me that I have worked hard in this film. But it was actually Kaatru Veliyidai that took huge efforts and was a physically challenging film in my career. But it did not give the desired results.”
Karthi said that it’s important for everybody to face failure. “If you have to grow, you should face failures. Instead of buying an Ipad or Iphone to children, prepare them saying that failures are part of life and they should not get dejected. Only then they will become stronger.”
He thanked the police department, who were very cooperative during the making of the film. Directed by H Vinoth, the film was based on some heinous crimes that took place between 1995 and 2005. Karthi plays an uptight cop who, with the help of his team, investigates the series of crimes that shook the state of Tamil Nadu and the police department.
In its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu, the film grossed a handsome Rs. 10 crore and it continued to do well in its first week. According to Karthi, the film brought a new definition to the portrayal of cops on screen in Tamil cinema. Also starring Rakul Preet Singh and Abhimanyu Singh in important roles, the film is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and music is by Ghibran. The film also released in Telugu as Khakee.
