A case has been filed against actor Suriya for allegedly assaulting a 21-year old football player in Chennai on Monday. The actor was intervening in an accident on Thiru Vi Ka bridge.

The complainant Prem Kumar and his friend Lenin were going to Adyar on their bike to play a game of football when their vehicle rammed into a car on Thiru Vi Ka bridge.

“Unable to control the bike, he hit the car from behind. I was thrown into the air on the impact,” claimed Premkumar. He said a woman driving the car stepped out and began scolding them. In his complaint, Prem had mentioned that the Singam star who intervened in their argument with the owner of the car, assaulted him and came in support of the woman. The incident led to a huge traffic pile up on one side of the bridge.

"He assumed that we were harassing the lady and slapped me. He didn't even try to find out what was happening there,” Prem said in his complaint.

Suriya’s manager confirmed that the actor was present at the spot, however he denied any physical assault.
