The teaser for Karthi's upcoming film Theeran Adhigaram Ondru was released on Wednesday. The action thriller, based on real events, also stars Rakul Preet.
The teaser begins with a voice asking if there was one person or more involved, and if they belong to a new team or an old one. In response, he's told that other than fingerprints, no other clues are available.
The teaser then shows us a visual of desert land with a seemingly abandoned walkie-talkie. But as the voices speak, Karthi, who'd been buried in the sand, rises dramatically.
Written and directed by Vinoth, the film is supposedly based on the adventures of a real life cop. Abhimanyu Singh is playing the antagonist and the film is expected to release later this year.
Karthi's last film, the highly anticipated Kaatru Veliyidai, bombed at the box office and the actor will be looking to revive his fortunes with Theeran. Rakul, who has acted in a handful of Tamil films, is a top heroine in Telugu and starred in the recently released Spyder.
The thriller genre is increasingly becoming popular in Tamil cinema. The trailer for Theeran has received a good response on social media, with many commenting that the last shot of Karthi rising from the sand was impressive.
