Actor Ajith Kumar and Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor will be joining together for another project after Nerkonda Paarvai, currently dubbed Thala 60. According to trade sources, Thala 60 will have a racing backdrop and will be shot in exotic locations in South Africa, Budapest and the Middle East. To be directed by H Vinoth, the project will be the second time Ajith will be collaborating with the director after their upcoming outing Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of the Hindi hit Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. If everything goes as planned, Thala 60 will go on the floors from August.

Nerkonda Paarvai, which marks the Tamil debut of Vidya Balan in a crucial role, also stars Shraddha Srinath, Andrea Tariang and Abhirami Venkatachalam.

It is rumoured that this film will feature SJ Suryah as the antagonist. In a recent media interaction, Suryah said he will concentrate on acting going forward after the grand reception for his latest film Monster. He also said that he will be very choosy about playing a negative role as he has earned a new set of audiences with Monster. “It was very heartening to see children and family audiences warm up to Monster. Their love for the film has given me a new lease of life and I’ll be careful about the roles I choose going forward,” Suryah had said during the media interaction.

Asked if he will stop playing negative roles, he said: “I don’t want to play a regular villain with no purpose. If I look at my roles in Mersal and Spyder, I played the antagonist with an ideology. That’s the kind of roles I’d like to play.”

Meanwhile, the official announcement about Thala 60 is expected to be made very soon. With Nerkonda Paarvai gearing up for release this August, there are already rumours doing the rounds that Thala 60 will be planned as a Pongal 2020 release.
