'Thalapathy 64' just got bigger, Vijay Sethupathi joins cast of Vijay film

It is official! Vijay Sethupathi has been roped in for a pivotal role in Vijay's next, currently dubbed 'Thalapathy 64'. The film is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who made a splash with his debut film Maanagaram.

It was widely speculated that the thriller will feature Vijay in the role of a ruthless gangster and that Vijay Sethupathi will play the antagonist. However, the official confirmation has come in only now.

Vijay Sethupathi has nearly half a dozen projects currently in his kitty, including a Bollywood offering from Aamir Khan. Meanwhile, the makers of 'Thalapathy 64' are yet to reveal the complete cast. It has been confirmed that the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. Sathyan Sooryan will crank the camera while Philomin Raj will take care of the editing.

Vijay currently awaits the release of Bigil with director Atlee. The film, which is gearing up for release this Deepavali, sees him playing the football coach of a women’s team.  The film, which has been produced by AGS Entertainment, was officially launched last November in Chennai. A massive football set was built on a budget of Rs 6 crore for the shooting. Meanwhile, Vijay underwent special physical training in preparation for this role, where 16 women will star as sports players alongside him. Bigil also has Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu and Vivek in crucial roles.
