Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Nimir that hit the screens last weekend is performing quite well at the box office. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Maheshinte Prathikaaram.
According to reports, the film has earned a collection of approximately Rs 0.71 crore in Chennai while the collection from the rest of Tamil Nadu amounted to approximately Rs 0.69 crore.
Now the actor-producer has moved on to his next project. On Monday, Udhay’s new film with national award-winning filmmaker Seenu Ramaswamy was officially launched with a puja in Madurai. Titled Kanne Kalaimaane – after the popular song from Kamal Haasan’s 1982 film Moondram Pirai – the film marks the first-time collaboration of Udhay and Ramaswamy, whose last outing was the Vijay Sethupathi starrer Dharma Durai.
Udhay will be paired with Tamannaah Bhatia in this project, which will be wrapped up in 3-4 months flat. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been roped in to compose the music.
Upon completion of this project, Udhay will commence work on the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Happy Wedding. Though Happy Wedding was made on a small budget, it earned huge profits at the box office when it released in 2016. Last week, the news about the remake was shared by the film’s director Omar Lulu with a picture of himself posing with Udhay.
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi and Seenu Ramasamy will be joining hands for the fourth time for a project titled Maamanidhan, which will be produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja. For the first time ever, the film will see three composers from the same family join hands. Yuvan took to Twitter to share the news on the occasion of Republic Day.

A day after he was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, it was confirmed that maestro Ilayaraja will team up with his sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja to score music for Maamanidhan, which will feature Vijay Sethupathi in the role of a politician.
