Vaibhav, whose last film Meyaadha Maan did well at the box-office, has signed a horror-comedy next. The film, which is titled Kaatteri, was launched over the weekend in Chennai. To be directed by Kavalai Vendam fame Deekay, the film features Vaibhav in the lead role and also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Aathmika, Sonam Bajwa and Manali Rathod.

The shooting has commenced and Deekay said that the film will be both creepy and exciting, while speaking to the Times of India. “There are fantasy elements and paranormal elements, but this will not be just another horror film. In fact, kids will love this film. Some portions, set in a jungle, will be shot abroad,” said Deekay, adding that 90 per cent of the movie will be shot in the night.

Talking about the heroines, he said: “All four have equally important roles, as the film has two settings — a modern, city-set segment and a period portion. Sonam and Aathmika will be part of the city scenes, while Varalaxmi and Manali’s characters belong in the period segment. Both these portions will collide at one point in the film.”

Not long ago, rumours made the rounds that Oviya and Hansika were signed as the leading ladies in Kaatteri, which will be bankrolled by Studio Green. However, these reports were subsequently quashed. Vaibhav is currently awaiting the release of political comedy RK Nagar, which also stars Sana Althaf and Sampath in important roles.
