Last seen playing a tribesman in the Tamil film Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, actor Vijay Sethupathi is gearing up for an exciting line-up of films this year.
The actor’s next release for 2018 will be Junga, in which he plays a gangster while 96 will be his third release of the year. The film sees him join hands with lensman-turned-director Prem Kumar, with whom he had previously worked with in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. He also has Super Deluxe, Seethakathi, Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and Karthik Subbaraj’s next yet-untitled project with superstar Rajinikanth in the offing as well.
Amidst all these projects, Vijay will be seen making his Kannada debut via the upcoming project Akhaada, which he had initially signed even before he rose to stardom. The project, for reasons unknown, has been on the floors for nearly four years. Apparently, the film was cleared by the censors last week and the team has begun promotions. It has to be seen if Vijay will take out time to promote the film. He had signed this project when he was shooting for the Tamil cop drama Sethupathi.
The project is a bilingual directed by Shiva Ganesh of Jigarthanda fame. Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi will be seen playing a negative role in the film.
“The shooting got stalled in between and we also had to re-shoot parts of the film with a new cast because we couldn’t get dates from the original actors. Vijay came on board when he was doing Sethupathi, and he completed shooting his portions before the delay,” the film’s lead actor Vasanth Vishnu told The New Indian Express. While the Kannada version is gearing up for release in August, the Tamil version will release a month after that.
